DTS Lecture -> Outreach

The Lecture Phase of the first ever DTS at YWAM Trang is almost over! In just two weeks we go on Outreach to an undisclosed location. Our students have taken 3 months to know God and they're about to go and make him known. I also have a very important announcement and update!

In this letter I have three important updates for you, so please make sure you check out the bullet points. However, before I get to that, I want to update you on our DTS.

We have had seven students with us for the last three months. I have been honored to be doing life with them and watching God transform their lives. As we've gone through lectures each week about the nature and character of God, intimacy with God, worship, faith, and many more, God has met with each and every one of the students.

For me, my favorite week was Identity. The students had the time to seek God instead of listening to a traditional lecture. They were given various topics about our identity, and scriptures to meditate on. Coming out of that week, all of the students became much more founded on their identity based on scripture. Who better to tell us what our identity is in Christ than Scripture and the Holy Spirit!

They've also had many times every week to go out and share what God is teaching them in the community. Four days a week we go out for evangelism in the community. Throughout the last 11 weeks, God has brought us many people in Trang who are hungry to hear the good news. We've built many more relationships with different grandma's in the neighborhood, as well as with many youth around here too.

I can't wait to see what God is going to call each one of these students to. God is worth their whole lives devoted to Him, not just a few months. Pray for these students to be radically wrecked for the ordinary. They've already seen so much, pray that they would walk it out with fear and with trembling, and that they would see with their own eyes, "Beautiful are the feet of those who bring the Good News!"

1. Outreach

In just a few weeks, myself and Marie will be taking four of our students to the Middle East! We're very excited to be going back to the country I visited earlier this year. As it is a closed country, I will be unpublishing my website again for the duration of the outreach. Please be praying for our outreach, that our whole team would be unified, myself and Marie would lead well, and that many would hear the good news for the first time!

2. Visa Update

If you've been following for awhile, you know that God has not failed to provide a visa for myself, and anyone else who needs it on our team. That being said, I have pretty officially used up all of my visa options. However! Through a process of prayer and talking to other missionaries in Thailand, they brought to my attention the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). It is a 5 year visa, which is a really long time for a visa! Even the fact that it is available is an answer to prayer. There are however, some very high requirements. I will need to take a two week cooking course in Bangkok, leave the country every 6 months, as well as have $15,000 in my bank account at all times. In total, I will need to support raise $18,000 to cover the visa and the cooking course, as well as an extra $50 per month to cover the frequent exiting the country. One additional nuance to this visa is that I need the $15,000 to be in my account for three months before applying for the visa. Please join me in prayer for the finances, as well as the timing of the finances. I have seen God provide so much over the last few years, I know he is more than able to provide.

3. Going back to USA for a visit!

Well my friends, it is finally time, I will be going back to the States for a visit in the spring! After nearly four years, I will be coming back in April to see you all. Many of the details of my trip are not quite settled, I'll likely be back around 2-3 months. I am so looking forward to seeing your faces again. If you would like to meet up at some point, please send me a message so I can make sure that it happens!

I am hoping to do some support raising while I'm in the States as well for the new visa. My hope and prayer is that I would be able to get what I need very early into my time into the states, so that I can return to Thailand in a timely manner. If I cannot get the finances soon enough, I will likely have to prolong my time in the States. Though I would love to spend many months with you all, I am hoping not to get stuck in the States.
